An Afternoon at Cascade Lavender

U-Pick Lavender Farm

It's Lavender picking time!

We had the pleasure of visiting Cascade Lavender for the first time and had the best day!  Cascade Lavender is a beautiful lavender farm in Madras where you can pick your own bunches of beautiful lavender from 24 different varieties.  They currently have over 4000 plants in their U-Pick Garden from whites, pinks, blues and purples.  They grow French and English lavender, have face painting station for kids and farm pets as well.  We so enjoyed the Alpacas!

For a cost of $5.00 a bunch, and I bought 4, I was able to break those bunches down to create almost a dozen beautiful lavender bouquets. Proceeds from our visit benefited a local charity, which made my purchase even sweeter.

Whenever there are blooming lavender, you will also have honey bees.  Personally having to overcome my fear of bees, it was well worth it!  I stood for a moment in front of my chosen plant and let the busy bees know I was there.  Gently I touched the base of the stems and the bees moved back, allowing me to cut whatever I wanted.  So excited, I continued this process until I filled my basket with beautiful blooms.

My daughter and I wanted to check out their Lavender Shop and we were so excited that they had essential oils, eatable lavender and dried bunches for sale. Our last stop was the face painting booth, where my little one transformed into a butterfly.  Making Faces - Face Painting did an amazing job and later during bath time, the paint came off with ease.

If you plan on visiting Cascade Lavender, you should go soon because the U-Pick is only open to the public until mid August.  We will definitely be making this an annual event for our family.
